What is meant by concept of the Imam according to language
and Quran?
The language gives several definitions some of them: Ibn Faris said in his definitions
Imam is the person who is followed by the people and gives decisions in the deferent cases .
The prophet (Allah bless him and his family) the first Imam of the people, the Rulers (caliph) and the Quran are also Imam .
Ibn Mauthor in (Lisan AL-Arab):
Imam is a person who guides people .He is followed by people whether he is a chief of or someone . in Quran (fight the idolatry chiefs) .
This means we should fight and kill the idolatry chiefs an leaders who are follow by narrow-minded people.
: Ibn Mamthor a'so said
Everything is stood and reformed by the Imam ,so Quran is the Imam of all Muslims .so Quran ,prophet, kaliph(ruler) and the army leader are all Imams.
[The same thing with the boy in his learning or the tools used by the builder in his construction of houses.
These definitions indicate one thing : the plumb used by the builder are calls Imam (guide) ] .
The Imam in the terminology is :
Imam is the perfect and divine man who is located at the top of the pyramid of reforming task .
He is the axis who take the nation to the perfection and progress in the individual and social aspects .
The nation should comply with his orders and directions and he should considered as a model and guide in his sayings , his Leeds, and his acceptations .
The concept of Imam in Quran :
We have received word imam with some derivatives in the Quran twelve times, seven of which came in «single», and five of which came about «combine», and in all of these resources came the word Imam and a description of the multiple things that
remind them about the whole ;
1. Imam is the person who bears the responsibility to lead and lead a group of people, the Almighty God said: [I appointed you as Imam for the people ] (14)
Sometimes this is Imam useful and beneficial for followers as in the example given in the verse, and at other times the Imam is harmful to his followers to put them in peril in both realms world and the Hereafter, and Almighty God says: (and we made them Imams preach into fire and the Day of Judgment will not be helped .) ([5])
Both credibility of Imam, Imam whether right or wrong does only for this world, but they bear the responsibility of Imamate in both realms, says the Almighty, and in a comprehensive manner: (We call on all people by there Imam (model ...). ([6])
He says in relation to leadership of Pharaoh: (offers his people, the Day of Resurrection fire ...). ([7])
2. Quran: The Almighty God said: (... and before him the book of Moses as an imam and mercy ...). ([8])
3. Way: He says: (We took revenge from them and they were in a clear Imam). ([9])
In this verse expressed the word Imam as aroad, because the traveler take the road of an imam and guide him and followed to reach the destination he wants. 4. Archived board: meaning: (... and all things We have recorded in clear Imam ). ([10])
Since it has expressed the board saved the title of the book, then you can incorporate this section in the second section, but since that fact and realistic « saved board » unknown to us that we have mentioned here separately, but if we interpret this verse in the infallible Imam, then enter this section In the first part.
The linguistic meaning of Imam then raises the following question seriously: What is meant by making the ruler in this verse? The eighth Imam (AS) descries the Imam :
«The Imamate reins of religion, and the system of the Muslims, and reforming of the world, and integrity ». ([11]) and said (peace be upon him) also:
Imam applies what God orders of the permission and of the forbidding defends the religion of God, calls for the sake of Allah with wisdom and preaches the people the right religion .
He is worthy for the presidency .He is professional in politics
Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him):
«Fear the government but the government is for the Imam, judgment is for the Imam. It is for the just Imam only ». ([13])
He said Imam Ali (peace be upon him):
«... And the ruler system of the nation is enhancing of Imam and obedience » ([14]). ([15])
«Fear the government but the government is for the Imam, judgment is for the Imam. It is for the just Imam only ». ([13])
